Manage parent-child order guides
Find out how to centrally manage order guides for chain restaurants and multi-location businesses using parent-child account relationships.
On this page:
Overview
Streamline order guide management for chain restaurants, multi-branch schools, and other networked businesses by establishing parent-child account relationships. Once configured, you can manage all linked account order guides from a central location, ensuring consistent item availability, pricing, and sequencing across all locations. Any changes made to the parent order guide will automatically be reflected in all associated child accounts.
Important: Parent-child account relationships must be established through your customer sync or a backend script before you can use this feature. Contact your Cut+Dry Growth Manager for assistance with the initial setup.
Follow these steps to manage parent-child order guides.
Set up parent-child relationships
Note: This step requires technical configuration and cannot be done directly in the portal.
The relationship between parent and child accounts must be loaded via customer sync or a one-time backend script. The process varies by distributor and requires the following information:
- Parent Account Code (required)
- Child Account Code (required)
- Parent Account Order Guide Name (optional - can be set later in the portal)
Once relationships are established, parent and child accounts will display identifying tags and linked account sections in the customer details.

Manage linked order guides
1. In the Customer tab, select the parent account in your customer list.

2. Navigate to the Linked Accounts section in the customer profile.

3. Click Manage Child Accounts.

4. Select the desired child account from the list. Then choose an order guide from the Linked Order Guide dropdown, which displays all available parent account order guides.
5. Assign the selected order guide to the child account.

6. Click Save.

Result
The child account will now have access to the parent's order guide with consistent items, pricing, and sequencing.
View child account order guides
1. In the Customer tab, select the child account in your customer list.

2. View the linked order guide by clicking Order Guide.
Important
- Child accounts have restricted editing capabilities for linked order guides. Item details, pricing, and sequence changes must be made at the parent level.
- Child accounts can still have their own custom order guides if enabled by distributor settings. The parent-child relationship doesn't prevent additional order guide creation.
- If a linked order guide is deleted or the association is changed, the child account will lose access to the parent order guide immediately. However, order history details will be retained.
- Distributors maintain full control over child account capabilities, including custom order guide creation and catalog access, through existing functionality settings.
